Clean shaven look for men is mostly a mid to late 20th century phenomenon... you can even watch umpteen holywood movies based on early 50s etc to see that clean shaven look was no standard for male appearance or desirability.

If we see emergence of industrial to a post-industrial society, the clean shaven look for men has emerged at about the same time. It seems more of a conformance by men to standards of 'corporate behaviour', not very different from hanging a necktie pressing up your throat.

But how many men are comfortable wearing a necktie? Do they do it in their homes? With their families? There is every reason to suppose that clean shaven look is something men have been conditioned as a corporate pressure than anything else.

Whoever is masquerading in the pseudonym of Gaurav is a mercenary of Gillette, engaged for a few peanuts for spilling his idiotic bytes wherever the WALS campaign is protested against. In the process he has betrayed his pathetic condition of being cognitively challenged.

What he could not fathom is that the campaign of Gillette is actually against folks who do not shave - stubble or beard. The shaving company is desperate what with more and more women considering a stubble, more so a beard, as a symbol of a macho-man! Quite naturally this situation is a serious threat to their sale. So they made a bogus survey, engaged some models and launched this Women against lazy stubble campaign.

Now this poor guy Gaurav who is at the lean end of this food chain, is blabbering something here. Pity.

But a curious fact is that the impugned campaign is explicitly against "stubble" but not (semantically) against "beard", because beard-sporters are die-hard non-shavers. No point in targeting them. Perhaps some consultants had advised Gillette to focus on men who shave but not regularly. So they have started showing a facade as if women in India are over-obsessed with sex since they have nothing else to do, and that they object to their male partners abstaining from shaving on holidays and week ends.

But the campaign is a pathetic disaster. Because you can't win over natural instincts and the choices based on them!

Poor Gaurav,
Still living in a dreamland?
Perhaps you could come out of your bookworld, and look at the picture for a second. You may not be aware of the simple fact that all the big-house advertising do their own research to find out what sort of images would appeal to a larger audience. And with this picture, they've clearly made a statement that bearded/stubbled men are the most favorite of all women!
The same fact has been brought forth by many other independent researches in the past too... Look here, to educate yourself, as you know some good English: http://stubbleindia.wordpress.com/category/studies/

Who ever posted this must be someone who learnt english after school.

Even if you did not understand what the punch line means...atleast see..this has nothing to do with stubble .He has a beard ...so start with .

You need to be more mature about your issues and subjects .
